My name is Monica and I’m the owner of Face Finances.
I started Face Finances after facing my own financial struggles. I was in a terrible marriage and I desperately wanted out. My credit score was in the low 500’s. I knew this would impact me purchasing a home or buying a car. Even with an accounting degree, I was not knowledgeable about personal finance. I started learning more about what I needed to do and applying this information tenfold. Within a year, I was able to raise my score 120 points and save $5,000. I did this on an income of $40K while paying for childcare and not receiving any child support. I knew there were other women facing the same issues. I decided to use the information I received from my formal education and these life lessons to help others.
But I wasn’t done…
After my divorce, I was able to purchase the only home my son has ever known and buy a brand new car with an extremely low interest rate. I decided to turn my life into a life lesson for others. My current credit score is above 800. I have paid off over $35K of credit debt making me credit card debt free. Just last year, I was able to save $30k during a pandemic while receiving a decreased salary. Professionally, I have a Bachelors and Masters in Accounting. Why do I share all of this?
I understand what you are going through. Being the sole breadwinner presented its own set of challenges.
